Function Design On Highway ATIS

Advanced Traveller Information System(ATIS)is widely applied in many developed countries.In China, it has been just put into practice simply. In the developed area of our country, traffic congestion and traffic safety are two of the urgentest problems in the traffic management. ATIS is considered one of the most economical and effective methods. The research sponsored by Jiangsu Provincial Communications Department gets a function design to ATIS based on highway network in Jiangsu and expends effort to establish a foundation for construction of ATIS in the province.With the research result on the newest development of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) home and aboard, a demand analysis the research based on Jiangsu highway network finished and works out basic funtions of subsystems of highway ATIS. These basic functions concern information collection subsystem, information transmission subsystem, information platform & management information subsystem, and information issue subsystem.In the information collection subsystem, the collection information was classified and requirement according to the classification was also proposed. In analysis of information transmission sbusystem, collection and issue channels are studied. Information pretreatment center and information platform are designed in functions in the subsystem of information platform & management information subsystem, and information analysis and treatment technique is studied too. Issue information is classified in information issue subsystem and the function of that system is also designed.
