With the development of computer techniques and applications widely of embedded system,many disadvantages of the conventional fault wave recording devices such as reliability,configuration and cost, etc, have been gradually emerged. Thus a design of a new wave recording device based on embedded system is proposed in terms of the disadvantages above. The SAMSUNG S3C2410A embedded microprocessor based on ARM920T is applied to the proposed project with the module configuration. Moreover, the proposed project makes use of embedded LINUX operating system and develops Linux device drivers. The reliability and flexibility of the device is greatly improved because kinds of peripheral equipments in order to satisfy the most requirement of the fault recorder device can be used in this microprocessor as well the cost is reduced. Furthermore,the conventional fore and back ground structure mode is then thoroughly changed when the back-ground computer is throw away in the design.
