As a modern design method, mold-block design not only makes the process of designing and manufacturing rationalized, but also may enhance its flexibility and adaptability. It satisfies the multivariate market demands and brings great economic and social benefits in the production model of great variety, low-volume and individuation.The thought of mold-block design is applied in the piston machine tools design in this paper. Based on the practice of manufacturing, the design theories and methods of computer aided mold-block design (CAMD) of machine tools are studied and explored. The design system frame of the Mold-block scheme of piston machine tools is build. The Mold-block design method of piston machine tools is also analyzed in this paper.The technical and economical significance of computer aided mold-block design is discussed, and the actuality and trend of the CAMD is also presented in this paper.Through the functional analysis of piston machine tools, the functional model is built. Based on the group technology, the mold-block coding of piston machine tools is studied, and the mode-blocks of piston machine tools are also categorized by their functions. The classification of different models lays the foundation for the computer aided mold-block design.According the needs of the piston machine tools mold-block design, parametric design methods based on constraints are used to produce mold-block. The normal process and method of producing parametric mold-block model based on constraints are presented to use in practice.By studying the design and evaluation of piston machine tools mold-block design, a parametric assembly model based on mold-block is presented. The assembly model is built by using UG The parametric assembly model is estimated by the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.In this paper, a scientific, practical, rapid and efficient design method of piston machine tools is studied, and the further conceit of its deep research is presented as well.
