Research On The Landscape Morphology Of Urban Road

Urban Road, which represent the blood vessels of a city, is one of the most important concourses. With the development of urbanization and improvement of living standards of citizens, new challenge of landscape design is confronted as for how to find an optimum solution which fulfills all the requirements, such as environmental protection, sustainable development, increasing public demands, and image-building of a city.Urban Road is a complex system ,so its landscape depends on many factors such as facilities, nature condition, city features and city history, Therefore, the design of landscape cannot merely rely on form design. Based on literature review, this paper establish urban road landscape system which is composed of form and meaning, compartmentalizes three morphology elements, which are real pattern, virtual pattern and meaning pattern. Real pattern researches on the shape and aesthetic features of road facilities, virtual pattern researches on spatial features, they emphasize representing form. Meaning pattern researches on culture and meaning of urban road landscape, and how it relates to human mental activities, it emphasizes representing meaning.As morphology researches on the relationship and action between an object and its factors, this paper proposes to use morphology to study relativity of urban road landscape, brings forward the factors involved in urban road landscape evolution and how these factors affect and been affected by the landscape.In the end, this paper does research on method of real pattern and virtual pattern designing, and how to make use of gardening technique of Chinese classic garden in urban road landscape design. Combine engineering practice, discuss the impact of constructing significance on meaning pattern.
