| The Yangtze River is the biggest one in China: it passes through vast area, has large population and abundant resources. It is the center of economy development. As the "gold waterway", it can master the economic power on whole river and expand the oversea market, it also can communicate with the inland and alongsea area and promote the development of the western resources and movement of eastern technology. Therefore, the Yangtze River makes an important role in our national economy.Container transport way suited for the routes from Chongqing Port, Wuhan Port, Changsha Port, Nanjing Port and Zhangjiagang Port to Yangshan Port are analyzed.Proceeding from the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center, it is necessary to make better use of Yangtze River which is hailed "gold waterway", to promote the linkage development of the Yangtze valley, and to research the multimodal combined transport by river and sea model that Yangshan deepwater port serving the Yangtze valley. According the current situation of the container transport in Yangtze River valley, the paper finds out the ways of container transport and the evaluating indexes.After being on stream, Yangshan port will cry for researching and developing the system of the multimodal combined transport by river and sea. Then, it is necessary to create a brand-new set of the multimodal combined transport by river and sea model from Yangtze River to Yangshan deepwater port, perform its function to serve foreign trade along the Yangtze River, exploit supply of commodities, consequently centralizing them to Yangshan port.The thesis, first of all, makes the qualitative analyses about the present state of the container transportation of Yangtzi valley, from which investigated the general situation of ports and companies in Yangtzi valley.Second the thesis is presented the tentative proposition of the optimization of Yangtzi valley container transportation ways to set up the preparatory projects based on the theory of OP model.
