This thesis discusses CAD for globular indexing cam mechanism on base of reverse engineering. According to the theory of conjugate surfaces it changes pure outline surface copy into dial motion rule, and then designs cam outline surface. The difference between CAD which is based on reverse engineering and regular CAD is gaining of dial motion rule.Firstly, the globular indexing cam mechanism is studied and the surface equations of various types of globular indexing cam are acquired.Secondly, the function of CMM is studied according to the CMM that is owned by engineering training center of Liaoning Gongye University. A method of using CMM to measure roller gear cam is researched, and the roller gear cam are measured after learning the method.The important part of this paper is the counter-resolution of dial motion rule, so it builds counter-resolution of mathematics model and programs relevant computer programs with C language, it makes the counter-resolution of dial motion rule come true through measuring data. Finally, the author builds a 3-D model of indexing cam mechanism based on the pro/engineer after getting outline surface equation of indexing cam.
