A theoretical analysis and experimental research on the performance of cast steel joints subjected to cyclic loading is carried out in this paper. (1) Based on the elastic-plastic analysis theory, the hysteritec behaviors of cast steel hollow spherical joints with tube under cyclic loading is studied by nonlinear FEM. Stress distribution and destructive model are analyzed. The comparison of the cycling hysteretic curves of cast steel hollow spherical joints with different geometric parameters shows that how these geometric parameters influence its hysteretic behaviors. (2) The full-scale experiment on the cast steel tubular joints under the cyclic loading in the Tianjin Olympic Gym Center is performed and the stress distribution on the surfurce of the cast steel tubular joints is obtained. (3) The performance of cast steel tubular joints under the cyclic loading is analyzed by FEM, and then the three-dimension stress distribution and the values of stress are obtained. Comparing the experimental research with the theoretical analysis by FEM, the results show that both of the values can match each other, which can prove that the computation by FEM is right. The results of this paper indicate: cast steel hollow spherical joints have good hysteritec performance; the performance of the cast steel tubular joints in the Tianjin Olympic Gym Center obtained by FEM can match with the performance obtained by experiment.
