Signalized intersection is the meeting point of various vehicles; pedestrians are the important factors which make a great influence on traffic transport at signalized intersection. While, traffic offences are very prominent, and they are one of the most major causes which bring about traffic accident. By means of the study on traffic offences, the purpose of this paper is to find out the regularity and reason of traffic offences, and provide measures to prevent and correct pedestrians' traffic offences. All of these have significant meaning in reality.Based on the analysis and summary from domestic and overseas study on pedestrian behavior, this paper has researched on the behavior and psychology of traffic offences at signalized intersection. The paper has drawn a primary conclusion as to the regularity of pedestrians' traffic offences by observing the behavior of pedestrians' traffic offences at signalized intersection, interviewing the pedestrians, sending questionnaires to specific person, learning the situation when the pedestrians get involved in the traffic offences. Data collection has been done at several signalized intersections. As to complicated and numerous data, non-parameter supposed test has been used to count up and analyze. As the result shows that there is no surely relation with pedestrians' sex and age in terms of their traffic offences. Different signalized intersection has different property in light of traffic offences. There is a close connection between traffic offences and pedestrian's flow. Making use of the expectation theory, from the viewpoint of psychology, this paper has analyzed the cause of traffic offences, psychological characteristics of pedestrians and their psychological action. The major cause of traffic offences is due to they put other needs as a priority instead of the safety needs. What's more, the objective environment provides the condition that leads to traffic offences. With all these factors, traffic offences come about. As the research shows that the major causes of traffic offences are lacking of the sense of safe, the unreasonable design of the signalized intersection, and the low cost for traffic offences and so on. According to these reasons of traffic offences, this paper proposes suggestions and measures to prevent and correct traffic offences.
