| Until now, the research on Chinese traditional dwelling has already entered a new stage, but it is also in lack of integrity. Because regions, where its culture is unique and its influence is wide, have been paid more attentions by people; but regions, where its culture characteristic isn't unique and easy to be recognized, have been neglected by people easily. For this reason, it makes an effort to fill the blank in this margin in my paper. This paper chooses the traditional dwelling in the South of Shann'xi province to research, for the reasons mentioned above, and the culture and characteristic of this region are formed by combined actions of social and the cultural conditions. Therefore in my paper I attempt to let people acquaint with the traditional dwelling of the South of Shann'xi province and make more systematic and integrity understanding about it from the multicultural visual field by analyzing the geography environment, the social condition and the cultural phenomenon of this region. At the basis of practical investigations, this thesis try to build up a complete framework by analyzing and discussing the traditional dwelling in the South of Shann'xi province overall and partially, perceptually and rationally. First of all, the paper introduces the environment of the South of Shann'xi, including geography, the social and cultural conditions, and makes people to know about the background in which the traditional dwelling of South of Shann'xi appeared. Secondly, the paper takes the town named Qing Mu Chuan in the South of Shann'xi as a typical example to analyze and discuss. In this part, the paper emphasis on discussing its appearance and the characteristics about the plan, structure, space form, and material and decorates. It enable readers to form a specific impression on the traditional dwelling of the South of Shann'xi from whole to partial and from community to individual. At last not least, it avoid to analyzing and discussing in the toneless way, so it try to combine perceptual describe with rational analyze in this paper.
