At present, lightweight framed structures with special-shaped R.C. columns are applied widely in recent years, but the research of special-shaped columns is pool. The special-shaped columns exists in its advantages and disadvantages because of uniqueness of section shape. The paper, based on the ductile analysis method of rectangle columns, put forwards the factors that determinates the characteristic of the sections of special-shaped columns , including axial compression ratio, the worst load orientation, shear-span ratio, spacing of lateral reinforced and change of section .In the paper, the method of nonlinear analysis of special-shaped R.C. columns is put forward. A computer program for a full range analysis of special-shaped columns is complied. On the basis of related papers, the full path of stress strain relation of concrete and the sliding of longitudinal reinforcement anchoring are all considered, simultaneous, the restriction effect for concrete by thichening of stirrrups is also included. According to generating finite elements model by meshing special-shaped columns, a computer program using the digital iteration method for full range analysis of special-shaped columns is complied. Using the finite procedure ANSYS software by nonlinear analysis, based on the analytical results of 19 sets of L-shaped, T-shaped and +-shaped columns , the ductile behavior of the special-shaped columns considering the axial compression ratio and the load orientation is investigated.
