The computer simulation technology is current one of most widespread used practical technology. It integrated the computer technology, the network technology, the graph picture technology, the object-oriented technology, multimedia, the software engineering, the information processing, the automatic control and many high-tech domain knowledge. With mathematics theory, the principal of similitude, the information technology, the system technology and its the application domain related specialized technology as its foundation, the computer and each physical effect equipment as its tool, it is a comprehensive technology which conduct the experiment study by using actual or conceiving system model. The real-time simulation technology extremely has the characteristic as the computer simulation application branch and in recent years its development is rapid. After special function formidable real-time simulation strut software developing successfully, it even more impels the real-time simulation machine industry, the commercialization and the internationalization.As one advanced teaching method applying to the navigation teaching and the crew trains in our country, ship-handling simulator had a longer history. Through simulation ships navigation driving, it can train the student safely and highly effective to carry on training, ships operation, turbine manages and eliminate malfunction under a more real environment.The main topic is that simulates navigation in Chang Jiang River or on the coastal area center, centralized controlling ships and monitoring navaid equipment in the small ship cab. As a medium or small ship-handling simulator, this system can distinguishly simulate and monitor on the solid ship each kind of condition, also can satisfy teaching request involved with ships operation and shipboard equipment monitor.This system mainly researches ships movement model, rudder model, ships advance model and so on .System is made up of the simulation physical model through the hardware equipment, the software realization simulation and the correlation application procedure. In view of establishment simulation ships model, software procedure real-time and concrete hardware equipment mutually communication, thus it can realize the ships various parameter of movement direct-viewing dynamic demonstration. Its core content involves Advantech automation device drive development, system modeling, software realization, software and hardware serial communication, database visit and operation and so on.The paper first introduced ships simulation model, mainly stressed on the main engine and the rudder servo system. Next introduction the system design and the overhead construction, expounded the system realization plan and the related function module. Again introduced simulation software core technology and related examples. Finally were the simulation software realization and the debugging, the confirmation simulation ships rotation performance and the Z shape experiment.Ships operation and advancement experiment system that is developed based on this paper obtained full utilization in the field research and the effect was good. The paper research result is also regarded reference as the development of the laboratory simulation technology and the equipment.
