Scene simulation technology is an important research content of virtual reality technology and interactive distributed simulation technology.Scene simulation technology can simulate a realistic scene environment or human conceived environment,in order to perform a certain task in the virtual environment.It can provide amethod and technology of visual technical feasibility of verificationscheme and task procession.The characteristics of i.e.good security,high efficiency,low cost,make thescene simulation technology gain a rapid development and applications in various industries fields.Chinese sea territorial is vast and is rich in mineral resources and biological resources.A number of experienced ship operators are needed both to protect the marine territorial rights and exploit marine resources.But at present our country's mariner training work is inefficient.Domestic ship-handling simulator has some shortcomings on training mariner,such as long cycle,low efficiency of training,the limited training time and place and so on.Based on this kind of situation,this paper use visual simulation technology to design and develop a visual simulation system of ship-handling simulator,which is based on PC(Personal Computer)and ship sailing.It allows the crew to use their computers for self trainingat anytimeand anywhere.As an auxiliary tool,it can help the traditional ship-handling simulator equipment to train crew effectively.The main contents of this paper are as follows:First of all,this paper analyzes visual simulation system requirements of the ship-handling simulator,and puts forward the system function framework based on these requirements and the characteristics of ship maneuvering simulation object,and offers a standard for the design and implementation of the system.For each function module,this paper puts forward their structure framework.Secondly,ship handling simulator visual simulation system is studied in the realization methods of several main functions,such as ship motion control,special effects,interactive roaming.Ship motion model in the ocean is analyzed and it provide a theoretical basis for ship maneuvering simulation as well as the ship motion program editor in the later.Special effects technology implementation method based on particle systems is studied,and the ship wake and weather environment effects have been accomplished.The characteristics of virtual roaming systemis analyzedand a simple interactive roaming implementation method forthree dimensional is researched.Thirdly,a model repository is built for the visual simulation system of ship handling simulator,and is convenient to manage and call different model resource.On the basis of the advanced 3Ds Max software,the construction technology of three dimensional scene model is put forward,and all kinds of three dimensional model are established.Large terrain simulation method based on DS is studied.We study the simplified method of three dimensional model,and use the method to simplifythree dimensional model in the scene to improve the real-time performance of the system.Finally,the visual simulation system of ship-handling simulator base on personal computer is accomplished.From the overall analysis of system framework,we integrate the various functions;Then using Virtools as visual simulation platform,the simulation interface,ship'sinteractive manipulation,ship wake and weather environment effects based on particle system and interactive roaming control function modulehave realized.The program script ofthe eachsystem element isestablished,and thevisual simulation system of ship maneuvering simulator base on personal computer has been finished at last.
