Aircraft arresting system is one kind of important safeguard equipment for airports, which is used to arrest an aircraft going beyond the end of a runway at normal landing or by accident to provide safety of pilot and aircraft. At present, the overseas development of arresting equipment is very fast and the corresponding research is also rather mature, but few literatures can be obtained. The new aircraft arresting system in China is under development and the corresponding research is at a premature stage.Firstly in this paper the design requirement of an arresting hook is summarized and the general arresting cable design variables and consideration are brought up. Then the kinematics equations of arresting hook in regular runway and irregular runway are established and the bounce characteristic is analyzed.Secondly in this paper the kinematics of an aircraft arresting hook unit are analyzed and studied in the two motions of the arresting hook engaging an arresting wire directly and indirectly. The equation of motion of an arresting hook engaging an arresting wire directly is deduced. On this basis some assumptions are given, and an approximate equation is deduced, then an example is carried out, which proves that the approximate equation is feasibility. Take into account the condition of indirectly engage, the kinematics of the aircraft arresting hook is studied. Finally the method of defining the arresting force law as to the multiple-index restricted problem is analyzed. One kind of design method based on energy method is presented. The energy method is used to make the relative ideal arresting force law satisfying multiple-index restricted, which adopted fixed landing distance design and the known arresting force law.
