This paper analyzes the developing status of current apparatus and teaching instrument, then puts forward a new design of belt drive experimental instrument controller with ARM microprocessor. The controller is used to control the operation of experimental instrument with the functions of data collection, analysis, liquid crystal display, and etc. What's more, it can communicate with PC through the 10Mbps Ethernet Interface. Considering the data measurement method, the paper presents a practical cheap "photoelectric switches" project of measuring the speed and a simple, stable and reliable current way of measuring torque.Based on a more detailed analysis of embedded system and according to the structure and using features of the experimental apparatus, the paper puts forward the overall blue print of the controller design and describes the hardware and software system development in detail. On the controller hardware design, ARM7chip-LPC2220 made by PHILIPS company is used as CPU of the controller,T6963 chip is used in LCD module controller, and RTL8019AS chip is used in ethernet interface. After analyzing theμC/OS-Ⅱkernel operating principle and according to the function of the controller hardware module, the task partitioning of embedded application software is settled, and the information transmission and data communications between the different tasks are organized using control variables as a link. Finally, the controller is applied to actual equipment in order to verify the design through the actual test.
