In recent years,with the constant development of our national economy and the constant improvement of the people's living standard, the increase in private cars has already been an inevitable trend. We have to recognize that the larger the world population gets and the further the cities develop , the narrower human being's living space becomes. It's been a times subject to build and maintain habitancy environment of high quality. The contradiction between the larger population and relatively fewer lands in our country is very sharp, so habitancy problem is one of the important social problems to modern China, and in order to meet the demands of development of China's economy, we should build the proper habitancy environment, while the private cars appearing in residential districts must cause a series of problems. If we want to use the private motor vehicle efficiently in residential districts, we should deal with the problem on parking first, so we should analyses its characteristics, plan rationally and improve guidance. In order to solve the problem,in this thesis I discuss the primal parking problem in city residential districts first, then analyse the causes of it, finally I come up with the solution in two aspects—building a parking lot in residential district and the way to park. The whole paper is divided into seven parts. Introduction part focuses on the aspects of the topics. Chapter I outlines the parking problem in residential districts. Chapter II describs the origin on parking problems in residential districts. Chapter III analyzes the present situation of residential parking, and comparatively analyzes the characteristics of various ways to parking, meanwhile analyzes the effects on the environment of residential district. Chapter IV goes further into the parking lot in the residential district, including identification of the parking area, design and creation of landscape etc. Chapter V analyzes the various possibility of parking methods in residential districts, and shows the illustrates. Chapter VI comes to the conclusion of this paper: it should meet demand for parking through various channels,as well as meet the ecology requirements of residential districts for parking, so that environment of the parking lot can be in harmony with residential districts and even the entire environment system of the city. Main purpose of the paper is, through investigation and research, to plan to build lively, convenient and humane parking environment, to provide useful recommendations for building a harmonious residential district so that to make a modest contribution to building a harmonious society.
