The S-VDR is a simplified VDR special for navigating ship to record voyage data. The essential function of S-VDR is the same as VDR, but the performance and demand are predigested. It preserves the ship information including recent physical state, dynamic, orders and manipulation in a safe and resumable manner. The preservation helps to get reliable and correct information of the cause of the accident and other details, facilitates the investigation and enhances the safety of maritime traffic.With the development and maturity of embedded network technology, the development of Maritime products tends toward networking inevitably. The S-VDR adopted network communication architecture makes the acquisition and transmission of data more convenient, improves the security and reliability of data, and simplifies the design of system modular which makes the system more extendable and maintainable. This paper introduces a simplified voyage data recorder which uses the embedded Ethernet technology, combined with distributed data acquisition and centr- alized management. And the sample was developed.Based on the background and significance of S-VDR and considering the functional requirements of simplified voyage data recorder and the characteristics of international and domestic similar products, the paper analyzes the key technical points of S-VDR, and proposes a scheme based on the structure of the embedded Ethernet for the whole system design. Then the thesis presents the design idea of whole system and the key points of various subsystems. In the hardware circuit design, we detailedly describe the dominating control system of HVR sub- system which takes Coldfire 5307 as its core , the interface between control system and the large-capacity NAND Flash Memory Array, the implementation and design key point of the network data acquisition subsystem based on 16bit CPU MC9S12NE64 and a variety of module for data acquisition. In the software implement part of HVR subsystem, details are specially given to the drive exploitation of the NAND Flash Array, the management mechanism of data storage, the management of bad block, and fault-tolerant design, and so on. In the software design of data acquisition subsystem , we custom the command protocol interface for S-VDR, introduce the NMEA 0183 international protocol standards, and achieve the transplant of OpenTCP protocol stacking to MC9S12NE64. Finally, the performance of sample has been tested strictly, and the result shows that it achieves the desired design requirements.The S-VDR discussed in the paper uses low-power and low-cost hardware, using embedded Ethernet technology, and allows the system to meet the maritime product requirements of reliability and safety. The technical performance of S-VDR can also meet the relevant provisions of the International Maritime Organization. Its modular design implements flexibility to the distributed data acquisition, which makes the system easier to install and expand, and more easily adaptable to different types of ships of different needs. The design scheme of implemented S-VDR can also provide a new method for embedded data acquisition systems such as vehicle "black box", intelligent architecture, and promote the development of social information technology.
