By the Reformation and Opening, our country's urbanization process is very fast, the city expands gradually and the population rises quickly, the urban traffic can not meet the need of the large amount of trips and freight. The experience in the foreign cities shows that the answer to the urban traffic problem is the comprehensive transportation system that mainly consists of public transportation including urban rail transit, such as metro and light rail transit. Nowadays, many urban rail transit projects are under construction or planning, in which there are many problems, such as the transport organization. How to select the vehicles, the compiling, the routing and the rolling stocks are the key part of this thesis. In the thesis, the inter-station OD, the ridership and the interzone flow are predicted through the TransCAD software and the four-step method according to Xian's socioeconomic development and related data. The vehicle selection is considered from the passenger volume, the further development and the engineering. The conventional standard for calculating the persons the vehicle carried is modified from 6 to 5 persons per square meter referring to the situation overseas. The train compiling schemes for the No.2 line are provided based on the predicted passenger flow. For the train running plan, the general train routing modes and related affecting factors are summarized, and the short routing, the super long routing and the regional rapid train routing are analyzed too. Combining with the situations of Xi'an No.2 metro line, the train routing scheme, the stopping scheme are confirmed, and the adaptability are verified. In the end, the quantity of the rolling stocks are calculated based on the selected vehicle type, compiling scheme, train routing and the stopping scheme.
