With the rapid development of our country's railway transportation system, the question that how to carry on railway transportation safely, reliably and high efficiently has become an urgent problem to be solved. It is no doubt a good solution by increasing the traffic density on the present train line. The ATC system arises at the historic moment which is a train operating management and control system that integrated with the advance computer, communication, control and railway signal technologies. This article's research object is the ATP on train subsystem of ATC system. The ATP system mainly implements train overspeed protection, etc. The system consists of on ground equipment, on train equipment and communication between the above two. In city transportation system, its ATP mostly adopts on train safe computers which is a little part of a huge and complex system. This kind of ATP is disadvantageous to realize and promote in the general railway system. Consequently, it designs a modified solution which profits from the original ATP's idea by combining the advantages of the embedded system to implement the system functions.Considering the ATP system's requirement both in safety and reliability, it uses two different embedded development platform to simulated realize the system's main functions. In the platform which uses Intel's Xscale PXA270 as a CPU, it runs Windows CE embedded OS to implement the key compute of ATP, and also to realize the data collection and user interface. In the platform which uses Sumsang's S3C44B0 as a CPU, it runs uCLinux embedded OS to implement the key compute to ATP. It uses the serial communication port and network port to realize the data exchange and synchronization. The whole system finally realizes the ATP's main functions by using redundant architecture both in hardware and software.
