The northern marshalling station in Chengdu in Sichuan Province is a State key construction project and the largest railway investment with many high technologies in it. It covers a total area of nearly 5000 mu, which is Asia's largest railway marshalling station with six yards in two ways. The system is divided into up and down train, each equipped with the system of departure and arrival, marshalling and through yard. In addition, it provides a return of maintenance, repair works and repair stations. The thesis consists of four chapters. In chapter one, author puts Chengdu marshalling station and describes the project overview and design standards. In chapter two, laying base is introduced including layout program and design. In chapter three, track laying and maintenance are mainly discussed.Construction technology for track production line is described. In chapter four, the alteration of existing station is discussed. The construction technology for inserting the turnout into existing line is mainly discussed. Comparison of three projects for altering the existing station is carried out including design and construction. With the electronic form, a fast, exact and efficient goal is reached.Starting with the site investigation, the main technical parameters for the station layout, traffic requirements and marshalling station are analyzed. Through design optimization, project can be put to use immediately to meet the technical standards and reduce costs. Optimizing the construction process ensures the safety and high quality construction completed reasonably. Through decomposition processes and a reasonable combination of labor force, higher economic benefit is obtained.
