In this paper, measurement principle and development state of optical grating technology are briefly introduced. The advantages and disadvantages of several grating measuring circuit designs are analyzed and compared with each other, and then we put forward a method of using FPGA devices with high speed to realize integrating designation.A new type customizable microcontroller Zylogic E5 integrates the accelerating 8051 and FPGA, and in this design, which completes all functions of grating digital measuring device on a piece of ZE5, included data subdividing, direction distinguishing, data processing, man-machine connection, which constitutes the embedded grating measuring system on chip. The design adopts the development thought that design the circuit from top to bottom, which designs the hardware modules the software of system by using Verilog HDL and C program respectively, has composed the system on chip that have the strong transplant ability. At last, on the platform of fastchip, it debugs the whole system based on the real-time and full speed debugging system, which is composed of Zylogic E5, the soft platform named Fastchip Device link, and JTAG downloading/debugging wire.The features of the new type of high integration design method can be described as follows: All digital design, that develops the all modules by using Verilog HDL, carrys out the system functions with all digital logic; The high integration rate, that the whole system is achieved on one Zylogic E5 chip, reduces the quantity obviously which the component uses. Take the three axises system for example, the sum of the ICs of the whole system is 13 less than the system that is not integrated, and need no resistance and capacitance; and so decreases the area of PCB, that improves the stability of system greatly; The advantage of high speed, that has the system clock of 40M, enhances the tracking speed of system, and overcomes the shortcoming that the counter's work frequency is limited; The modular designing method and the customable system resources gives the system stronger promotion space, and because of the characteristic of software designation instead of the hardware designation and in-system programming, the system gets the strong transplant ability.
