In our country, the bridges built in the 60's and 70's of 20 centuries, the loadstandard is lower inthe design, with the timegoing on, more and more bridgeswill reach or approach their design reference period. Lack of carrying capability, material aging and damages in the existing bridges has been noticed all over theworld. Therefore, servicing, assessment and reconstruction for existing bridgeshas become one of the the most important problems that are being discussed byengineers and scholars at home and abroad.Based on summarizing domestic and foreign results about the assessmentof existing bridges, more research on the assessment of concrete bridge has beenaccomplished in this thesis. The main contents in this thesis are asfollows:Firstly, the status of research on assessment methods of existing bridgehas been summarized and reviewed.Secondly, the theory of the analyticalhierarchy process(AHP) and fuzzy synthetical judgment and their application onthe damage assessment of bridges were introduced, which will lay a foundationfor the establishment of the assessment system of damaged bridges.Thirdly, according to its characters, bridge system was divided into severalmultilevel-systems, and a hierarchy assessment model was established. By analyzing the datum in existence and the interrelated criterion, a comprehensivegrade vector of assessment were built up. On the basis of these works, the thesishas put forward the means that can confirm the weight of bottom indexes. At last,we give a safety assessment in Guangxi River as an example.
