Bridge construction is one of the country infrastructure constructions and is an important part of the transportation infrastructure constructions. Bridge is becoming more and more important in the economic and social with the rapid development of bridge construction and continued increasing investment. However, due to the lack of knowledge about bridge durability design and itself features of reinforced concrete material, bridges suffere from different degree of damage with traffic growth and environment factor influences. The high cost of maintenance and repair makes increasingly concerned about the durability problem of bridge structures. In order to ensure the normal function of bridge, a comprehensive and effective approach to assess the durability of the bridge must be established to make an accurate assessment of the bridge durability state. Through formulating a scientific maintenance and repair program, the security of the structure during the continuation of life is guaranteed. However, the evaluation indexes in the current methods for assessing the durability of bridge lack uniform standard and the boundarie between them is not clear. The participation of people in durability evaluation process often increases the influence of subjective factors resulting the actual durability state of the bridge is not objectively reflected. So, on the basis of consulting the domestic and foreign research status, this paper combines engineering practice to formulate the durability evaluation index system and to propose the durability assessment method of reinforced concrete bridges based FCM method. This mothod achieves an accurate assessment of the durability of reinforced concrete bridges. The specific research work is shown as follows:1. This paper analyses the background and significance of the bridge durability study, introduces the concept and necessity of bridge durability assessment and describes the meaning and development of cluster analysis. On the basis of the depth systematic analysis for durability assessment of reinforced concrete bridges through summarizing the research status. The research emphasis and technology roadmap are proposed in this paper.2. This paper introduces the fuzzy cluster theory and clears the principle and process of FCM method. The AHP provides the theoretical basis for the establishment of durability evaluation index system.3. The durability evaluation index system for reinforced concrete bridges is established based on AHP with systematically analyzing the influence factors of bridge durability. This provides the important foundation for building the bridge durability assessment system.4. This paper describes the acquisition and analytical method of evaluation index and determines the grading criteria for comprehensive assessment of the bridge durability. On this basis, the maintenance and repair measures are formulated corresponding to the durability grade of reinforced concrete bridges.5. The durability assessment system of reinforced concrete bridges is constructed based on FCM. Firstly, build cluster centers corresponding to the grade of bridges durability evaluation subsystem through cluster samples. Secondly, determine the weight of the subsystem based on AHP. Finally, analyze the index datas to get the comprehensive durability assessment grade of bridge.6. The durability evaluation system based on FCM is verified to be effective. The grade memberships corresponding to bridge durability assessment subsystem are got using bridge field datas to determine the durability class. Then, the rulslt of comprehensive durability assessment is got throught weighting the subsystem memberships.
