Port quayside container cranes are the main container-handing gear in wharf, the advantages and disadvantages of the capability have great deep influence on loading and unloading efficiency of container crane. In order to promote the loading and unloading efficiency of container crane, it is very important to design the luffing system, and the advantages and disadvantages of the luffing system have crucial influence on the movement capability, reliability and economicy of the crane as a whole. Now, there are two main kinds of port container cranes: the bridge crane and the gantry crane. The jib-bridge quayside container crane, which combines the advantages of the two types of container cranes, and bases on the portal crane, reinvents the crane luffing system, is designed for having high efficiency on loading and unloading containers and large working range, and in order to satisfy the loading and unloading containers request.This thesis treats the above-mentioned jib-bridge quayside container crane as a research object, puts emphasizes on the movement characteristics of its luffing system. Firstly, this thesis introduces the composition,characteristics and superiority of this kind of crane. The luffing system is the crucial part, so this thesis introduces the working principle and characteristics of the combined compensating pulley system in detail, in order to make the readers can understand this new type container crane briefly and generally.This thesis analyzes the combined compensating pulley system with plural vector analytic method in detail. According to the geometrical relationship among the no-entire gear, the small pull rod and the jib, the thesis gets the movement condition of the luffing system; According to the changed value of the compensating rope, lifting rope, the movement changed value because of the luffing system's rotating, the article established the movement model; simultaneously, according to the interrelation between the changed value of the sling and the movement value of the luffing system, the article established the model about sling goods horizontal fall. In addition, utilizing the known datas and the relative relationship, the interrelated parameters are solved in this article.This paper simulates the movement characteristics of luffing system with vb software. Firstly, according to geometrical relationship of luffing gear, this chapter writes the program of framework sketch, in order to make the program users can understand this new type container crane briefly and generally. Secondly, according to analysis of movement characteristics model, writes simulation program in order to achieve movement characteristics simulation function of jib-bridge quayside container crane's luffing system, and aimed to supply a high efficiency, applied tool for this new type container. Finally, according to program results and simulation curves, analyze movement characteristics of dolly and lumping, and analyze jib-bridge system's variational rules according to different input parameters; analyze the main facts that affect the luffing system of the jib-bridge quayside container crane; discuss the measures that enhance luffing velocity and offer theoretics and practice gist for designer who adjust magnitude design constants.
