Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) is the most potential resin in packaging realm, and the PET carbonated soft drink bottle has become an indispensable part of our lives. Because of the safety problem of the glass beer bottle now it has become the market general knowledge to research, develop and make use of high barrier PET bottle as beer bottle. This research work do aim at the trend adopt injection blow-molding method to prepare high barrier PET bottle. In this paper, the relationship between the formulations, processing technology, barrier properties, morphology and bottle transparency of PET/MXD6 and PET/EVOH blending system was studied. In the study of barrier material, the excellent suitable compatibility was adapted to prepare barrier material by injection molding and blow molding machine. The morphology of PET/MXD6 and PET/EVOH blending was observed by SEM, and using OX-TRAN Model 2/21 test oxygen permeability performance of the blending. The result showed that the better laminar structure came into being in the blend of PET/MXD6 and barrier property of the blends was improved specially when the screw speed is 70rpm, temperature is 280℃, content of compatibility is 10% of MXD6 and weight amount of MXD6 is about 20%. The permeation rate is 4.75 times lower than pure PET bottle. For the PET/EVOH blending, they are 50rpm, 270℃, 10%-20% and 20%. The permeation rate is 3.06 times lower than pure PET bottle. The transparency of PET/MXD6 bottle is better than PET/EVOH. It shows that PET/MXD6 blend is better than PET/EVOH blends by the analysis of permeability results. In this paper, the barrier material of PET/MXD6,PET/EVOH were studied from optimizing formulations and process conditions. The study provides the basis for improving properties of blend, designing process conditions and mechanical property to obtain expected morphology and properties of the blend.
