Facing the products of an era when people marveled at the magnificence of interchange, we are now presented with the problem of how to deal with the surrounding landscape—How to improve the environment for modern citizens—how to make full use of the limited amount of land—How to fulfill the demand for more outdoor space as the city continues to grow. All of the aforementioned concerns call for workable solutions. We need to strive for symbiosis rather than the conquest of nature. We need to emphasize quality over quantity in our civil construction. As the lives of urbanites shift from endless work to a more balanced state of repose, we need to make the transition from limitless extravagance to intensive redesign.This dissertation focuses on the above stated issues and examines correlating theories and practices. With the goal of improving the quality of human life, the author expatiates of the principles and strategies involved with the landscape renovation of the the attached space of interchange. Specific cases are examined in conjunction with the corresponding theoretical discourse.The dissertation is organized through the logical steps of: standpoint, detailed examination, solution, and implementation.The first chapter introduces the'standpoint'which includes the background, range, purpose, and significance of the research. The methodology and structure of the research is also outlined in this chapter.The second chapter serves as the'detailed examination'of pertinent theories regarding the attached space landscape of interchange. These landscapes are examined in terms of meaning, type, character, and ecological effects.The third chapter demonstrates the'detailed examination'process through specific examples of the attached space landscape of interchanges, in Chongqing and Chengdu. The fourth chapter presents'solutions'to the issues at hand. Bringing together the sometimes conflicting interests of landscape renovation and human use, the author presents workable solutions for the redesign of the various categories of the attached space landscape of interchange.In the fifth chapter, strategies of'implementation'are compared through the process of analyzing, responding, and decoding. The research works through the circular process of cognizance>solution>implementation>cognizance. The dissertation concludes with speculations on the future direction of landscape designing and renovation of the attached space of interchange.
