As a typical irregular shaped high-rise building, Heshi Dagoba having a vertical inverted pyramid configuration is under construction in Famen Temple Tourist Attractions, Fufeng County, Shaanxi Province. First of all, this dissertation is focus on the shaking table test of the structural model. Further numerical study on dynamic characteristics, dynamic responses and seismic behavior evaluations of this specific structure are performed. Finally, some general mechanical principles and essential elements of seismic concept design are summarized. The whole process of the design and the fabrication of the structural model of Heshi Dagoba, and the operation of the test are introduced in details, and then test results are analyzed. Main seismic indices meet the requirements of current codes in principle, so seismic behaviors of the structure are satisfied.A SAP2000 finite element structural model, which is simplified to simulate the shaking table model, is established according to structure drawings. Structural dynamic characteristics and dynamic responses via several procedures are obtained. On the basis of analysis results of finite element calculation, as well as the comparison between calculation results and test results, seismic behaviors of the main structure of Heshi Dagoba and the seismic design of this structure are generally evaluated.Elementary classification of high-rise buildings having vertical inverted pyramid configurations is presented. Parameters, such as generalized story drifts are presented for structures having vertical inverted pyramid likely configuration. Some common features about seismic behaviors of structures having vertical inverted pyramid configurations are summarized, i.e. structural dynamic characteristics, dynamic responses and failure modes, etc.A more flexible structural model of Heshi Dagoba is established with 3D3S V8 software for further conceptual analysis. Seismic conceptions of irregular shaped high-rise structures having vertical inverted pyramid configurations are discussed theoretically from several aspects, such as the selection of structural system, the driftcontrol and the design of key members and joints. Several crucial factors going with main features of structures are discussed, in order that engineers may have proper counter measures to design this kind of structures during conceptual phase.
