The distribution substation is an important part of a distribution network, so the automation degree of the distribution substation can directly reflect the automotive level of distribution network. The integrated automation of local substation is one of most important content of automatic distribution systems, and is one of the most difficult tasks as well. According to the features of local substation, such as large amounts, dispersed position, old-fashioned equipments, much more information and complexity of communication network, it has great economic benefit to search for a kind of integrated automation scheme for local substations, which needs less investment, but more effective. Most of all, it must be extraordinarily convenient and reliable.Because all the power source in Shangzhi County is supplied by either of the two transformer substations seated in south and north of the city, therefore, the load is concentrated, which makes it possible to realize the distribution automation. The technique of a scheme for the distribution automation system in Shangzhi County is analyzed and studied in this paper.Advanced technologies on electric, computer network, network meters and communication are used in the distribution network to accomplish such function as process and integration the following items: real-time data, off-line data, structure of electric network, parameters of the devices, geography information and so on. The DF8900 is applied to guarantee all the functions above.Firstly, the paper introduces the DF8900, including the design module of DF8900, the database management system, the SCADA system, feeder automation DA technique, application of advanced software for distribution network, the terminal units of the network and the characteristics, running process and the technology guide lines of their components. Then, the computer remote controlled devices and network meters of the distribution network is introduced respectively. The following functions of the computer remote controlled devices are explained briefly, such as event serial recording, system timing, electricity power acquisition, self-recovery and communication with the SCADA system. The concept of "network meters" is described, and the feasibility, advantages and its development promotion are analyzed particularly. Both the hardware and software of the key part, named high-speed data acquisition, are introduced in detail.Based on the analysis above, fault processing system is proposed in the end of this paper, including the rules it should obey and a practical scheme. In conclusion, the overall scheme of the distribution automatic system for Shangzhi County is proposed, and the schemes of 10kV network, communication, main station, substation and collective reading are described in detail.
