With the global competitions, the manufactures are facing the all-time challenges. Traditional design models have been far away from satisfying the rapid market demands. Considering the diversity and individuation of rapid market demanding, the enterprises should use the net-centered information technologies and the new design and manufacture models to improve theirs immanent competitions. In order to transfer design resources distributed in clime rapidly, a collaborative design model based on local enterprises and distributed enterprises are necessary. Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) and Computer Supported Cooperative Design (CSCD) exactly in this case arose at the historic moment. Workflow Technology is a new subject in Computer Support Cooperative Work field. It is the key technology that realizes enterprise's business process modeling, organization modeling, process running, process supervising and management, and finally realizes automation of the business process. So the paper propose a cooperative design module based on workflow technology facing manufacture enterprises.At first, the paper sums up the development of Computer Supported Cooperative Design Technology and compares four different design modules in cooperative design. Next the paper discusses the module's components and key technologies. Because the cooperative design platform is faced to rail vehicle manufacturing enterprises, operation system mainly is windows in those enterprises, so we choose .NET as design platform.In the fourth section, based on relationship lightweight workflow engine, the paper proposes a distributed collaborative development platform to facilitate Collaborative Product Development (CPD) for rail vehicle manufacturing enterprises. The workflow engine is implemented based on .NET and Oracle, which has workflow management, task assignment, person and organization management functions. At the same time, a finite element analysis module is embedded in the platform. Finally, the platform prototype is validated by 25-railway passenger car.
