At present, many suburbs of large suburb are developping rapidly. But they arealso facing the problem that centre of the city is expanding larger and larger, and thetowns in the suburb can't develop fully. It is recognized that highway and urban railtransit can improve the economy of town. So in this work, This article analysed thewhat effects the highway and the urban rail transit produce on suburb towns inShanghai.Firstly, this article described development situations of Shanghai suburb inrecent years and used GIS software to analyse features on map. Then this articleanalysed what effects the highway act on suburb towns by GIS and SPSS. It showsthat, highway can improve the economy of suburb towns. But in this situation thedistance from suburb town to the centre city acted more. Then this article analysedwhat effects the urban rail transit act on suburb towns by GIS and SPSS. Theconclusion is that the urban rail transit also can improve the economy of suburbtowns. Comparing to the highway, the urban rail transit act more on the increasingof urbanization as well as the increasing of residential construction.Finally, this article drawn conclusions and advices.Besides it discussed how wecan ameliorate to make the highspeed traffic system improve the development ofsuburb towns fully.
