The ancient village residential buildings in the primitive environment are decided by the region's natural conditions, economical situations, ethnic customs and social life styles. They were merged, developed, created and accumulated during the long process of development, so they have the unique characteristics of one region. In《Beijing Chapter》, it says "Culture is the accumulation of history, and it remains in the buildings and people's lives. It is the soul of cities and architectures, and it affects the planning of cities and citizens' behaviors potentially." The excellent old village building culture has its own advantage in adapting to the local natural condition, climate, ecology and environment. At the same time, colorful ancient village building culture makes the whole architecture world a present multiples developing patterns. So, in the today's trend of cultural globalization and similarity, an important topic presented before the architects is to protect and develop ancient village building culture which reflects the region's clear characters.The beginning of the essay is about the study of primitive environment and residential buildings in ancient village, and then the analysis of primitive environment's effect on southeastern ancient villages in Shanxi Province from four aspects: the environment, form, structure and decoration of the buildings. The essay takes Xiyagou Canal and Shitanghui Village as example to analyze, and get the essence of the regional culture to further enrich and develop the local culture.The essay has five chapters. The first chapter is introduction which explains the topic's background information, the study's meanings and characters, and the basic thread and study methods; the second chapter is about primary environment, the goal of this chapter is to make the definitions clear and analyze the characters further; The third chapter is and ancient village buildings. The essay is defined in order of ancient village, residential building, residential building in ancient village. The fourth chapter is the primary environment's effect on the residential building in ancient village. In this part, from the connection between the primary environment and residential building in ancient village, the essay is about the active quality that residential building in ancient village reflects which is shown from the following aspects: the architecture's environment, form, structure and decoration. The quality brings creative thoughts to today's design concept. At last, the author tries to further conclude that the primitive enviaronment does affect the ancient buildings. We can think about these carefully through the experience to get some beneficial experience in terms of thoughts and methods; The fifth chapter is about the primary environmental effect on residential building in Southeastern ancient village in Shanxi, and we can see the examples of Xiyagou Village and Shitanghui Village which have the same primitive environment but have different forms. Through the author's own experiences and with the understanding records and design, we can see the real conditions of present ancient village living buildings. With the aim of "getting to use", the study, which researches the buildings' structure, building mechanism and building characters, shows more references for today's practice.
