OBTS (On-Board Training System), which developed from 1990's, is a new training pattern. In foreign countries, OBTS is becoming perfect with the development of IPMS (Integrated Platform Management System). The so-called "Virtual Laboratory" is built by the use of the numerical simulative technology and the advanced software to model and simulate the OBTS; then the controlling plan is encoded, constructed and verified by the advanced language and finally the practical control code is completed. It undoubtedly plays an important role in helping us to recognize and master the common methods of designing and controlling the OBTS, to validate the controlling plan, to optimize the control parameters, to shorten the developing period and to improve the working efficiency.OBTS, home and abroad, this thesis designs a plan for emulating and verifying of the main power propulsion system. First, it analyzes the primary structure and modeling method of the main power propulsion system and models the system by the use of MATLAB/Simulink.Then, it introduces the functional features of the industry configuration software and the technical features and developing procedures of Rockwell HMI (Human Machine Interface) series software, and analyzes the primary modules of the HIM in the main power propulsion simulating system. Finally, it puts forwards a new communication method between the MATLAB and the RSView HMI by applying the RSLinx after the introduction of the basic concepts of OPC (OLE for Process Control), the use of OPC technique in RSViewSE, and the basic functions of MATLAB OPC toolbox. Though this thesis concentrates on the preliminary developing of OBTS, it proposes a new way of designing, which can provide software and theoretical support and guidance for further research, and which can facilitate the system parameters and shorten the developing period and thus inevitably has a positive effect on the development of OBTS.
