Diesel engine is the main motive power of water and land transportation currently. This situation will remain in the coming decades predictably.According to statistics, more than 95%newly-built ships adopt the diesel engine as main power plant. Compared with fixed pitch propeller,controllable pitch propeller has such advantages: better maneuverability,running at the best power level,lower oil consumption,easy remote control,better adaptability to navigation condition,and better power plant economy,etc.Thus controllable pitch propeller is widely applied to working ships and passenger ships.It is significant to establish the performance of marine main diesel propulsion plant by modeling in engineering.Simulation means to reasonably simplify and summarize the true system(physical system) on the premise of losing none of its physical essential characteristics.It is generally divided into the experiment simulation and the computer simulation.This paper belongs to the latter one.Because of its many advantages,computer simulation plays a more and more important role in the modern engineering.This paper introduces the volumetric,empirical equation and data amending method to build the mathematical model of MAN B&W 6S35MC diesel engine and NA40/S exhaust turbine supercharger,then completes the software design of the simulation system by VC++6.0.Simulation experiment proves the method is effective, and the model can reflect the steady nature of the diesel engine system.In view of the fact that volumetric method model has a big calculation capacity, and we can't carry out real-time simulation by computer,we've built quasi-steady state simulation model of MAN B&W 6S35MC diesel engine,shaft,controllable pitch propeller and ship hull dynamics.The simulation software's program for the main propulsion plant is accomplished by VC++6.0.The simulation system of marine main diesel propulsion plant controllable pitch propeller can be applied to analyze and predict as well as design the dynamic characteristics under the unsteady state of the main diesel propulsion plant system. Moreover,it also can be applied to the development and simulated training for the marine engine room,enriching the content of the engine simulation.
