The gas turbine and its combined cycle is one of the most extensive used forms for power generation because of its high efficiency, low pollution, and also a rapid startup and stop characteristic. As West-East natural gas transmission project and LNG projects in coastal areas, China's gas turbine power generation industry has made rapid development. Some cities, particularly in the coastal gas turbine ratio have reached a considerable scale. Gas turbine power station has always been used at the peak load or basic load for power generation, but ignored its black-start capability from the safety of the electricity.Under normal operation the power station start up form grid, but Power system black Start is the procedure to recover a total or partial shutdown of transmission system when has caused an extensive loss of supplies with its own ability to quickly start to restore the power grids, black start capability assessment is an important indicator of electrical safety. Usually hydroelectric power stations are the first choice for black start , and the majority of black-start the plans are based on the them, in fact, gas turbine units still have the same black-start capability but its research is rare, Based on gas turbine units for black start research have a very far-reaching significance not only for the hydropower plant lacking region but also can enhance the reliability of black start considering the small region recovering even there is hydropower plant in the grid.In this paper firstly analyzed the development and trend of gas turbines in China and the world, as well as black start status nowadays, and also proposed the necessity to research based on gas turbine for black start. Then, from the gas turbine mechanism and Modular ideal combined with the control system to establish an accurate gas turbine model, meanwhile, the model is verified in the MATLAB / SIMULINK. Subsequently, combined with the restoration plan of Shenzhen local small sized power grids which considering Shenzhen Yueliangwan Gas Turbine Power Plant Unit E 9 as the black start source, develop and launch recovery plans, in particular the framework of the electricity network, the model was established in the power system transient simulation software BPA, focuses on the process of voltage and frequency stability of the black start unit, verify the effectiveness of the plan.
