This paper analyzes the history, the evolution and the state of art of the SCADA system used in power systems. It is found that there is an urgent need of standard library for cross-platform vector graphics in the SCADA system. The author adopts scalable vector graphics (SVG) standard and employs UML design to implement a relatively complete SVG API library on Windows/MFC. The API library developed by the author has been applied to the SCADA system of HeRui and an excellent performance has been achieved. In order to realize the porting of the entire SCADA system of HeRui over various platforms, wxWidgets is utilized as the cross-platform GUI of the API library. A middle layer, wxWin, is designed and implemented to realize an automatic call mapping at compile time between the source levels of MFC and wxWidget. The technologies developed by the author allow a relatively low cost implementation of cross-platform vector graphics without affecting the stability of the existing system.
