Super lightweight steel residence, which is built up by less than 2mm thick cold-formed thin-wall steel frame and building envelope such as plasterboard, OSB board and colorful armor plate, is a new house system lower than 2-3 stories. This house system is fully connected by self-tapping screws and the wall connected to base by anchor bolt. It has many merits such as fast construction speed, beautiful appearance, lower cost and factorial mass production. Now, it has been widely built in North America and Australia. In china, it is also begun to be widely built according to AISI, but without suitable Chinese design code. Lucky, the government, residence developers, design and construction companies and universities have realized this problem and begun to do related research. The shearing behavior of this residence wall under wind or seismic load should be researched as soon as possible with its more and more use in china. Because of its lightweight, there will be lift-up load beard by anchor bolt. In project, the hold-downs are used to help to resist the lift-up load. Meanwhile, the connecting plates are used between two stories to help to resist shears. So, in order to know the wall failure modes, wall shearing behavior, load of the anchor bolt and failure modes of hold-downs, anchor bolts and connecting plates between two stories, the writers do this research. In this paper, test and FEA methods are used to do the research, and get the wall failure mode, shearing strength, and shearing stiffness under horizontal load. This research can be used as reference to put forward formulas of the Chinese codes for designing this new residence.
