In the trend of the economic globalization, the manufacture enterprises facing more and more competition, have adopted advanced technology combining with information technology, automation technology, management and System Science. However, the currently used enterprise information systems are still traditional ERP and PCS. The lack of a connecting layer between these two makes the connection of management decision and manufacturing process inefficient and not in time. The function of MES is to joint ERP with PCS, help to process the collected data, and exchange the information. Thus, the collected data can effectively be used in the ERP system and achieve the effective integration of the enterprise information system.Based on the crosswise project ' Research and Development of the Manufacture Execution System of Ningbo MOS Group' , this paper thoroughly analyzes MES theory along with the requirement of the enterprise. It took one year and a half to research and develop the project named 'Manufacturing Execution System for Manufacture Process of Bearing' which was debugged and installed in the Motian Bearing Factory of MOS Group in January 2007. Now the system has run stably and reliably for four months and has accomplished predetermined purpose. The whole dissertation is divided into six chapters:Chapter one begins with a brief introduction of the current problems in the process of the informationization of manufacture enterprises. Then illustrates the basic theories,forming process and developing trend of MES both at home and abroad. At last, discusses the aim and main content of this dissertation.Chapter two: Combining with the basic theory of the MES and the actual situation of the enterprise, the application of MES in bearing manufacture enterprise is deeply discussed. Afterwards, based on analyzing the requirement of the system, the framework and function model of this system are designed.On the basis of the framework and function model designed in the previous chapter, in Chapter three, it synthesizes and researches the advantages and disadvantages of popular industry communication networks, then, according to the actual need of our system, chooses a scheme that combined with Ethernet and Field bus. Finally, accomplishes the communication network with the choice of Modbus and Modbus/TCP as communication protocol.In Chapter four, firstly, the overall scheme of the system is designed considering the function. Then, designs hardware system which includes the MES server, the quality information collected substation and the production information collected substation. At the final part of this chapter, the text shows the figures of real hardware that machining according to the schematic circuits and PCB developed by Protel.Chapter five: According to the requirements of system function and hardware situation, the software system of MES server and substations is designed with assembly language. The system is approved accomplished after online simulation, debugging and testing.Finally, chapter six makes a conclusion of the whole dissertation and puts forward the future research in this field.
