Analysis And Reengineering Of Engineering Design Process

Engineering design process refers to the proceeding of all tasks in the period of designing. In civil engineering, design always goes before the construction and the design process determines all the design tasks. A bad planned design process with tasks handicapping each other will obstruct the smooth progress of the construction project. Playing such an import role in construction project, a scientifically planned design process is the foundation for the project's successful completion.The main purpose of the research is to survey engineering design process, analyze its problems, do a scientifically reengineering, and improve design quality, reduce design cost, accelerate design progress, enhance the flexibility of the design process, ensure customers'satisfaction.The main research content and conclusions are as followed:1. Did an investigation on the design process and the exiting problems among 12 design institutes chosen in random in 5 cities, and the questionnaires amount to 60.2. According to the investigation, analyzing the key steps of the design process and its problems.3. Interviewed with 15 professional persons, analyzing the main exiting problems in the design process and the solutions, and discussing scientifically reengineering of design process.4. Scientifically reengineering the design process.The research provides reference to the academic communities when doing research and the design institutes benefit for it when doing construction design.
