Simple and unsophisticated natural landscape of small bridge, flowing water, household in ancient town of water town in the south of Yangtze River, the human cultural with sight rich in the distinct individual character have been always had gracious concern for by guests. Honest native soil conditions and customs and its deep cultural inside information attract countless people to know it. The ancient town of water town in the south of Yangtze River has been already well-known in the world. The six generally acknowledged ancient town of the water town in the south of Yangtze River are Zhouzhuang, Xitang, Wuzhen, Tongli, Luzhi and Nanxun and three of them lie in the north area of Zhejiang, including Xitang, Wuzhen and Nanxun.It doesn't carry on too much personal planning and designing to the beautiful, harmonious exterior space system in ancient town of water town in the south of Yangtze River. But the modern architects explore the form, space and the relevant theories of research of the modern architectural design. Maybe the spontaneous and integral exterior space in the ancient town of water town in the south of Yangtze River provides us some clues and briefs.This thesis is under the studying of exterior space in the north area of Zhejiang's ancient town of water town in the south of Yangtze River, meanwhile, I carry on essential relation discuss of exterior space structural form and its natural contacted landscape. I expect to offer certain theories to support the shape research and rebuilding of ancient town of water town in the south of Yangtze River by all of these studies.This thesis has introduced the basic overview about the north area of Zhejiang's ancient town of water town in the south of Yangtze River at first, and it also introduces the forming of space in the north area of Zhejiang's ancient town of water town in the south of Yangtze River from social and natural two respects. Thereafter, according to the exterior space theory, I carry on the research of exterior space shape about Xitang, Wuzhen and Nanxun the three ancient towns'waterfront architecture. By collecting waterfront architecture, adjacent to building street and river the three main exterior space's elements, according to the social state and historical background at that time, studying on waterfront architecture, adjacent to building street and river combination forms, analyzing the exterior space structure through plans and sections in architecture design, we can easily understand this kind of exterior space structure. I analyze and compare its association law, space level and space change of array at the same time, to summarize the exterior space's similarities and differences about Xitang, Wuzhen and Nanxun.Through the researches, we can understand the organizing tactics of the inside and exterior space, and it can refine on relationship between exterior space and the correlative nature landscape and learn some meaningful exterior space and landscape design methods finally.
