An Analysis Of The Space Shaping Of The Ancient Town In The South Of The Yangtze River Under The Influence Of Modern Western Culture

The ancient water town of Jiangnan occupies an important position in the area of the Yangtze River Delta.The ancient water town of Jiangnan is famous in the Taihu River Basin and the lower reaches of the Yangtze River due to the natural water network,the long open water culture and the unique pattern of Water Street and folk house.The establishment of the commercial port city led by Shanghai marks the invasion of western culture in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the Taihu basin.In the early twentieth Century,the traditional water street mode and the culture of the Jiangnan gentry began to be broken by the western culture.The paper explores the collision,blending and reconstruction of the Chinese and Western culture in the ancient water towns of Jiangnan,that is,the chemical reaction between the architectural culture is showed by the reasons and characteristics of the town and the building space.The paper firstly establishes the necessary background of the development of modern Chinese and Western blending in the water town of Jiangnan,from the background of the natural and humanistic development of the ancient towns in the modern water Township,the way and the influence mode and result of the western culture in the water town of Jiangnan,and the concept of the building and the molding of the town space,to interpret the spatial characteristics and techniques of the modern Chinese and Western architectural culture.The paper analyzes the characteristics of the molding,combining the classification of the function,the classification of the relationship between architecture and water,the classification of the texture of the town and the composition of the details of the architecture are analyzed,and the typical cases in the ancient town of water Township.In term of the way and content of the spread of western culture,this paper elaborates the development and maturity of western culture in Shanghai and analyses the characteristics of the spread process from Shanghai to the main provincial capital cities,and then to the marginal towns.Specifically,this paper discusses fusion and mutation of the heterogeneous culture on the ancient water town's space in the aspects of the religious architecture,colonial architecture,the architecture under the influence of the foreign students,and the water and rural residents.The formation of modern buildings in the ancient water town of Jiangnan is a typical example of the role of Chinese and Western architectural culture in the rural towns on the edge of the Taihu River Basin.In the last chapter,we take the ancient town of Tongli,the most influential town in the ancient towns of Jiangnan,as the typical example.Through the analysis of the typical architectural space and the sublimation from the architecture to the outer space,we sum up the basic techniques of the ancient town space molding under the influence of the western culture.Comparing with Shanghai which has a higher level of administration and expression in the facade of the westernized building,the suggestions are put forward about how to protect historical building in complex culture.On the premise of the preserving the antiquity of the millennial remains,the emergence of modern westernized buildings in Jiangnan is a fusion of the Western civilization and continues the century nature of its modern evolution,diversify and flourishes.Through the study of the modern Jiangnan Water Township,this paper sums up the characteristics of the space molding characteristics under the integration of Chinese andWestern culture and studies the ancient town space which has formed the combination of traditional and Western style,to make up for the regret of the architectural heritage of modern times.This paper,based on the Chinese and Western combination of the ancient town of Tongli,focuses on the value exploration and protection strategy of the architectural combined with the ancient Chinese and Western culture in the ancient water town.With the this unique perspective,I hope to provide some references for the development of traditional settlement protection.
