As the development of the computer network and electricity technology, the electric power systems have been much more complicated than ever before. Computer technology has been widely applied in modern electric power systems; the visualization of electric power network and display of circuit graphics is one of the hottest issues in electricity industry. The primary visual graphics in the current electric power systems are various forms of graphical images in their respective applications, make it difficult to share and exchange data. With the agreement and proposition of IEC61970, Common Information Model (CIM) defines all the structures and relationships of the electric elements and logic units. CIM provides platform independent reunification of the logic of power systems by a common Extensible Markup Language (XML) as its object coding and data transmission format to achieve of the different EMS information sharing and data exchange.SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is a new two-dimensional vector graphics defined by W3C in August 2000, and also the standard of network vector graphics. SVG has on XML, a text description of objects, interactive and dynamic and fully support the characteristics of DOM and follows the model of CIM for the power system which provides a technical way for the network graphics of electric power system.Based on the research of characteristics of SVG and electricity software, this paper designs and develops a SVG-Based circuit graphics system.
