With the high development of information technology and network, people change their notion in their dwell, the intellectualized and network home becomes the hot topic of discussion gradually. Smart home aims at constructing comfortable, safe and convenient habitation space, through the network connecting the information equipment and home, meeting people's living, working, entertaining and communicating need and providing safety defending, community supervising and the means of knowing what happens at home when people stay out.The disadvantage of traditional smart home is low expansibility, fussily lining and high expense. This smart home basing on ZigBee technology has good expansibility and doesn't need numerous lines, according with the constructing principle of home network completely. Wireless ZigBee communicating technology has the characteristics of low speed, low cost, consuming very little power and close quarters of communicating, though its superiority in application of home network can't be substituted by other technology.Firstly, this paper indicates ZigBee is the best technology applied in intellectualized home, through comparing with other technology. This paper particularly analyses the standard system of ZigBee technology, especially researching the protocol and network topology of ZigBee, because this knowledge is the basis to apply ZigBee.Secondly, devise the home gateway and terminal node, at the base of putting forward the whole project of smart home and the attentive problems in designing. Designing home gateway is the hard core. This paper particularly expatiates on the design platform construction and the hardware, software devising of home gateway. The software designing of home gateway consists of drivers and applications. For the sake of degrading the probability of collision happening when transmitting data and the success of transmitting data, the smart home makes use of unoccupied channel evaluation mechanism and dummy carrier wave interception mechanism in the bottom software designing of ZigBee protocol, realizing many accesses of carrier wave interception with collision avoidance.Thirdly, design the route protocol aiming at the characteristics of ZigBee network and home control network, the protocol sustains self-organizing network, sustains network topology movement, and has the self-recovering function. The smart home system can find route and maintain network automatically. For the constitution of home network, adding or deleting a node and the node movement, these tasks can be accomplished automatically without people's intervening. Otherwise, the system takes power-consuming into account in the design of hardware and software, using low power-consuming CMOS chip on hardware and adopting the alternant working-sleeping channel mechanism on software.At last, contrive an example to test the running status of smart home system. Testing result reveals this system running status is good, making the basic functions of smart home system come true, arriving at the expected purpose. On the power-consuming aspect, the system also accords with the low power-consuming requirement.
