The dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) is considered as the most effective device to solve the voltage quality problems. It can compensate the distortion by pouring the defference between standard and system voltage into the system. It also can balance swells or sags which cause dynamic voltage quality question, and balance harmonics or non-balance of three-phase which cause quiescent voltage quality question.In order to enhance the dynamic performonce of DVR, to reduce its power output, to make it run more economically and widely, this paper do research in voltage distortion detection algorithm, phase lock techonogy ,control methods as well as the calculation methods of compensation voltage of DVR. The major contributions of this paper are detailed as follows:Concerning to the demand of DVR's rapid detecting, this paper put emphases on dq0 that based on instantaneous reactive power and that is in common use and simple, and present an advanced dq0 method. Analysis and simulation show that they can detect distortion in system voltage efficiently and have a rapid detecting.It analyzes two phase lock methods. The zero crossing comparison method has a bad control on distortion. And the SPLL has a great dynamic performonce. It also can control the distortion efficiently.Considering the definition of voltage tolerance of different load and the limitation of DVR output voltage, a novel method for calculating optimal compensation voltage is presented. By making changes of reference voltage phase diagrams of load, this method can enlarge the compensation range and decrease the energy output of DVR.Then this paper introduces deadbeat control method which is based on pwm technology. Detailed deduction how to apply the method to DVR is provided. The simulation shows that it has many advantages: great dynamic performonce and is convenient to control rapidly. Singal cirle method the other one is also introduced in this paper, including the principle and how to apply to DVR.At last, DVR's composition of each part is introduced. And choose the DSP TMS320LF2406 of TI as main-control chip. Finally, a brief description of its system design is presented.
