The paper describes Research on Microcomputer Technology for Differential Protection of Transformer .Firstly, introduce some elementary conceptions and the history development & current state of substation automation system, and then analyzing the hardware composition, structure characteristics and software implement Which belongs to the equipment. Microcomputer protection algorithms are also introduced this paper. The paper focuses on the transformer main protection.Because of large inrush current from close breaker of a power transformer with no load and power supply again after dismiss external fault, mistake will be made in transformer protection. So, the key problem of transformer differential protection is how to distinguish between rush current and internal fault current The principle of secondary harmonics suppressor is the kind of criterion.This article briefly introduces the of the hardware composition, structure characteristics and software implement which belongs to the computerized protection equipment. The computerized protection equipment based on an embedded system, Which used modular and open design ideas. The equipment brings collection, adjustments, communications and records into one main body and has high reliability, high accuracy, speed, data exchange capability and convenience of debugging advantages.
