Research And Development On Cable Eccentricity Measurement System Based On DSP

The control and measurement for the cable eccentricity is important for the cable production. The cable eccentricity not only causes the huge waste of the material, but also affects the performance parameters. As a kind of NDT (Non Destructive Testing), UT (Ultrasonic Testing) is widely used in modern industry, which plays a very important role in improving the quality and the reliability of products. On-line measurement system based on DSP is studied in this paper.The present situation of domestic and overseas measurement system for cable eccentricity is introduced in the first part of paper. Then the paper introduces the base quality of ultrasonic, ultrasonic transducer and the testing means of the general ultrasonic .This paper focuses on the research and development of the on-line measurement system of cable eccentricity. The whole measurement system is composed of two parts: PC and DSP.DSP is used for data collecting, and based on the demand of measurement system, this paper designs the core circuit and the peripheral circuit, realizes the function of this measurement system. The peripheral circuit is made up of AD driver circuit, chip sampling circuit AD, FIFO, UART and so on. Modular design is used in the software part of DSP, which is made up of data collecting, data processing and data transproting.The software used on PC is compiled by Visual Basic language. The PC accepts the data transported by the data collection system, analyzes the data and judges whether the cable eccentricity takes place. In the end, the measure result is displayed on the software interface.
