Cable eccentricity measurement is important for the cable on-line quality detection.The cable eccentricity not only causes the huge waste of the raw material,but also affects the performance parameters of the cable.X-ray Testing which plays a very important role in improving the quality and the security of cable is widely used in modern industry.The use of X-ray non-destructive testing method of the cable eccentricity real-time detection system was studied in this paper.The research and development of the on-line measurement system of cable eccentricity is chief in this paper.The present situation of domestic and overseas measurement system for cable eccentricity is introduced in the first part of paper.The theory and method of X-ray Testing is introduced emphatically.Based on that,a project of on-line measurement system based on DSP for cable eccentricity is brought forward.The whole measurement system is composed of three parts:CCD sensor and drivers,the inferior subsystem and the superior subsystem.Linear CCD is used to collect image information of cable cross section penetrated by X-ray.Driver pulse of CCD is offered by CPLD,in addition,CPLD is also used to generate time sequence of A/D and data buffer.DSP is the hard core for the inferior subsystem.The core circuit and the peripheral circuit of DSP which based on the requirement of cable eccentricity measurement system and the characteristic of DSP are designed with reason.The circuit actualize the function of this measurement system.The peripheral circuit is made up of amplifiering circuit,filtering circuit,A/D converting circuit,FIFO,extended data and program memory circuit and UART circuit etc.Image information is converted by A/D to FIFO and disposed by DSP.Communications between DSP and PC is supplied by serial interface.Module design is used in the software part of inferior subsystem.Data collection,data processing and data transportation are the main modules of the inferior sofeware.The software used on PC is compiled by Visual C++ language.The PC accepts the data transported by the DSP system,analyzes the data and judges whether the cable eccentricity takes place.In the end,the measure result is displayed on the software interface.
