In recent years, national infrastructure investment is increasing quickly, and the nationaldistribution network is upgrading extensively. The wire and cable, as the prerequisite productsin the national production and civil use, is in highly demanded from the market. Thecorresponding manufacturing technology also obtained fast development. But due to the lackof economic and effective testing methods and testing equipment, the quality of cable can`t beensured very well. Currently widely used offline damage type artificial detection method isdifficult to meet the requirements detection efficiency and the quality assurance, and cancause a lot of waste. So in the cable industry it is in urgent need to introduce online detectiontechnology, to ensure the product quality of cable and reduce waste.As one of the key products in city distribution system, the cross linked polyethylenepower cable has a big market demand. Eccentricity and outer diameter are the two mainassessment indicators of the quality standard. Eccentricity refers to the non-concentricity ofthe conductor and the cable sheath. Only the X-ray testing method is more suitable.According to the situation, in this paper the principle of the X-ray testing method isstudied. The X-ray based detection scheme is analyzed, the corresponding signal processingmethod is explored and designed, and the design of hardware and software of the system iscompleted.In terms of X-ray detection principle, the production and the spectrum characteristics ofray radiation, the action process within material and the X-ray attenuation law under differentmeasurement methods are studied. According to the characteristics of the Compton Effect,continuous spectrum narrow beam X-ray testing way is chosen.In terms of the test scheme design, the main performance index of the detection and itsinfluencing factors are analyzed firstly. Then, according to the incidence of the variousinfluencing factors, the point scanning detection scheme is selected, and the system design iscompleted.In the design of the signal processing method, polynomial and preview basedcompensation method is designed for the algorithmic error of ray detection model and effectsof environmental pollutants. The differential scheme, wavelet scheme and parameteridentification scheme are explored. The parameter identification method, which performedwell in real-time and accuracy, is planned, designed and validated.According to all of the study, explore and design, the X-ray based cable eccentricityonline detection system has reached high standard on real-time, accuracy and efficiency.
