Accessibility is being widely used at present as an indicator applied for assessing the efficiency of urban transportation system, it partly explicates the interconnections of urban structure, land utilization, planning and infrastructure. Through reviewing the original definition of accessibility and its measurement discussed by domestic and foreign scholars, this thesis has systematically expounded the definition of accessibility, briefly exploited its application in other subjects, analyzed its elements and characters and emphasized on discussion about the intrinsic factors which affect urban travel accessibility.Measurements and indicators are cores to assessment of accessibility. Based on abundant domestic and foreign references, this thesis has reviewed four classes of measurements, and has analytically and practically compared these measurements with each other. This thesis has also introduced and analyzed the detailed choice of indicator both in regional accessibility and urban travel accessibility. Eventually under the suitable hypothesis for travel mode of citizen, author has tentatively discussed assessment of accessibility based on travel mode, and has presented passable separation matrix and passable trip matrix, and concluded mobility indicator and arrivability indicator based on travel mode. Furthermore, by utilizing potential measurement, author has theoretically concluded a relative accessibility indicator which is more comprehensive and has testified the process in a pratical way.
