In the optimization of the urban water network, the problem of the water quantity is a key problem. For the chief target of water supplying is to satisfy the customer's demand of the quantity and quality. That is what the majority of the customers consider most. In the optimization of the urban water network, there are three problems with the water quantity, the forecasting of the urban water demand, the changing rule of the water quantity. the node quantity.This paper based on the projection of the Digital management of Harbin water network and optimization system. The data that needed to develop a good model is collected by Harbin institute of technology and Harbin Water Supply and Drainage Company. The studying course of the paper is carried out as the project goes. Firstly, describe the theory of water forecasting, the importance of the forecasting, and characteristic of all kinds of the model including the weakness of the different model. Collecting the water demand and changing pattern of Harbin city. Carry out a study on the node quality. Have a description on the upper tracing of the water demand.According to the latest study and research situation, the ANN model is chosen to be the forecasting model. The ANN is based on amount of input data / output data, running parallel dealing, building nonlinear model for water demand, it has great space to further development. It is very important to do this work, and I try to promote a good model which satisfy Harbin's water network. Forecasts the water demand by BP network and do a further study by the ABMP network model. Get a good result by the ABPM network model in the forecasting of the water demand.The research of the water demand and the changing rule of the city are very important to know the operation of the water network. Get some big customer to do this research. Set ten minutes as the round time and get the data from it ,then built a model of SE-GM to simulate the law of the big customer. Try to get a good model for the Harbin's changing model.The upper-tracing of the water demand is discussed in this paper. The former method that used to model the water network has weakness in the theory. It shows not very exactly to the reality. So we need to change the former method. The method discussed in this paper based on the flow logger which is designed by Harbin institute of Technology. It can save a lot of data used by the paper. According to the analysis of the data, I make the customer to different kinds. And get the curve of the different customer's water demand changing pattern. And carry out the computing of the Harbin's water demand upper tracing method with the data collected from the Harbin Water Supply and Drainage Company's Business Charge System.
