With the development of China's economic and the expansion of the middle class, the people's demand for cars rises year by year. At the same time, the public car modeling design has been unable to meet the people's demand for personalized aesthetic. On the other hand, during the process of automobile design, the designer need to collect a large number of information to creat a product which is personalized. After this work, the designer need to change the information into inicial draft. The two work has consumed lot of time and effort. Based on the above analysis, this paper lauches a study on semantics and bionics which is applied in car modeling design. The aim of this paper is to establish a library of car modeling. The car modeling in the library is designed based on semantics and bionics. Time can be saved during the early time in the process of design. The paper provides a new way of thinking in car modeling design.The first chapter of this paper introduces the development of bionics in car modeling design in China and abroad. The significance and the content are put forward in this chapter. In the second chapter, the author describs the theoretical basis of car bionic modeling design. In the following chapter, the author set up an semantic modeling library for car modelings in shape,color and texture. The library is supported by the theory of bionics and guided by product semantics. The author propose a new method in the car modeling which is supported by product semantics. The bionic modelings in the library are made a small-scale survey by the author using the method of the semantic differences. The survey is done in combining the theory and practice. In chapter four, the establishment of car modeling and process of selection during design are introduced in detail. How to extract and recomposit the car modeling in bionic modeling library are also discussed. In the last chapter, the work of the paper is summarized.The paper make a positive exploration and research in combination of bionic theory and product semantics in car modeling design. A small-scale survey of the semantic car modeling librsry is given in this paper. The provision and establishment of the library give a new method for car modeling design. The library inspires the ideas of the designers during the early time in design. So that the application of genetic factor in bionic modeling is solved.
