In this dissertation,an embedded application based on ARM is designed and realized for relay protector.This device is developed based on high performance embedded processor and embedded Linux operating system.The main content can be summarized as follows: 1. A comprehensive description about the significance of the research work is given. 2. The current research status of embedded system as well as the trend. 3. A description about ARM and its operating system is given .The hardware is designed based on embedded processor S3C2410X provided by Samsung and OS is Linux. 4. The functional requirement of this device is discussed in details. Then, a total solution of the device is proposed. 5. Discussed the required modules of hardware in details as well as relay protector function configuration.6.Discussed the design of software and how the relay protector works. Through the successful configuration of the hardware and software, the accuracy of the device is improved as well as the scalability for power parameters and events recording. A variety of signal measurements and action value can be set through the LCD display.In addition,remote communication can be carried out through RS-485 interface at the same time.
